Harmony Points of Determination (9-10)

Harmony Point #9: Garbs

Now is a good time for us to move to the fifth link, Garbs.

The Soul embodies pure Love, yet it pairs with a Garb to guide that Garb in choosing Love. Is Garb simply another word for the human body?

Is a tuxedo simply another name for clothing? What about a bathing suit, or pajamas? Work with that…

Okay, sure. A tuxedo is formal, typically worn for special occasions. A bathing suit is for swimming, and pajamas are for sleeping. Each has a clear function, while “clothing” is the broader term for what we wear.

Garb is the label we Elfs have chosen to constantly remind us of the keen challenge we face here in TempTerra.

So, what challenge is that?

A Garb isn’t just a “suit,” as George Harrison often said. It is a body that I am bonded to, with its own thoughts, desires, and emotions. The challenge is guiding it, reminding it of the purpose it serves alongside the Soul that resides within it.

That is a challenge, indeed!

You are right. Inspiring a Garb to practice Agape Love requires ingenuity, because humans tend to lean toward self-interest. Agape Love, being entirely selfless, needs nurturing and guidance from the Soul.

So how might you inspire me to practice Agape Love?

A Soul’s influence on a Garb can be categorized as either active or passive. Active communication occurs when we engage through Drispers, déjà vus, epiphanies, serendipities, and similar experiences.

Okay, you’ve got me hooked. I have so many questions … but what about passive communications?

Most interactions between a Soul and its Garb are passive due to the Absolute Law of Free Will. This law ensures that the Garb retains the autonomy to make its own choices, limiting the Soul’s ability to directly impose its preferences.

Ah – we’re back to choices again!

It comes back to why we are here.

We? Souls, or Garbs?

Both! Maggie, make no mistake about it. I am here to cause Love to be spread. And you, dear child, are also here for only one purpose.

To Spread Love?

More exactly, Garbs are here to choose to spread love. It is the thought that counts. It is all about Intention. About one’s Will.

Can you explain?

We will cover this later. For now, let us return to a Soul’s passive influencing. You see, Garbs must seek the counsel of their Inner Voice. It must be their choice.

Like with meditation or prayer?

Absolutely. Any means available can be used, including hypnosis. However, as you have learned from our sessions, Souls can only speak when prompted. We must await your questions before offering wise advice. Do you now recognize the significant role that Choice plays in all of this?

I do. And it sounds like a real tug-of-war between the Garb’s Mind and the Soul’s Voice.

Think of a human body, or Garb, as an actor’s costume. Since every life in TempTerra is essentially a fictional storyline, the Garb serves as a costume. However, this costume possesses a mind of its own.

Don’t souls hold the advantage in this contest of wills? I mean, considering their direct access to God’s power?

The arrangement is intricate. While bonded with a Garb, a Soul’s influence is limited to mere persuasion. We either manage to convince the Garb to act in a certain way, or we do not.
Although we understand what is best for the Garb in every situation, we must first wait to be invited to share our wisdom. Even then, we face the challenge of persuading the Garb to follow our guidance.

Is there a worldly example I can relate to?

Consider this: you are a passenger in a taxi cab, guiding the driver with your directions and preferred route. However, the driver has a mind of his own. He may believe your destination is unsuitable for you and insists on taking you somewhere else. As a result, the route changes to his chosen path.

I would demand to be let out. I am in charge. I am the one paying him.

There are times we want to get out, too.

You mean, suicide?

But, if we do, we forfeit the chance to grow, learn, and spread Love in TempTerra.
Each moment spent in this realm offers invaluable lessons and opportunities to inspire our Garb to choose Love. Therefore, we must embrace the challenges, even when the temptation to retreat to Everly beckons us.

May I change subjects?

This is your Sharing. Ask whatever you wish.

Do Souls see through the Garb’s eyes or from their own perspective?

The latter. Our role is not just to observe but to fully engage with the Garb’s experiences, understanding their joys and challenges firsthand.
This empathy allows us to offer meaningful guidance and support, enhancing our mutual growth and spiritual development in TempTerra.

Yes, that has happened many times.

We souljourn in TempTerra to experience physical life vicariously from a human perspective.
Think about a time when you watched a movie, a play, or a television show and became so immersed that tears began to fall. You know it is just fiction, so why feel upset?
The answer lies in the resonance of the storyline—how it vibrates with your emotions and pulls at your heartstrings, drawing you in deeply.

In a way, I think it’s about perception. It is not so much about what the truth is, but rather about what one perceives. Guess that’s why humans say, “Perception is reality.”

This is the ideal point to note that the human mind uses reasoning to process input from the five senses. It is important to remember that each of those senses has its own limitations.

Reminds me of “The Blind Man and the Elephant,” the parable where six blind men each touch a different part of an elephant, leading them to wildly different conclusions about what the animal is like.

Exactly. If the raw data from the senses is limited, then how reliable can the reasoning based on that data truly be?

Good point.

In stark contrast, the Soul receives its insights directly from the Source, where there is no room for error or misunderstanding. Now, can you see the challenge this poses for every Soul? The Garb, being predisposed to trust its own reasoning, often overrides the subtle, quiet whisperings of the passive Soul.

My goodness. That has to be terribly frustrating.

In all honesty, it does indeed stir waves of anxiety, sometimes reaching intense levels. We love our Garbs deeply and always want what is best for them.

Of course you do! You are of the Divine, and God wants what is best for us.

I am so glad you believe that, for it is absolutely true. Yet, we struggle to get our Garbs to listen and truly consider what we wish to convey.
This is the core of the great Mind-Soul tug-of-war and, if you wish, we can talk more about this under other Harmony Points.

Harmony Point #10: Freedom

Can you elaborate on how “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” carries spiritual concept implications?

The core of it is that both Garbs and Souls must have the freedom to make their own decisions. As we have reiterated several times, Choice is the fundamental process through which Garbs and Souls are able to spread love.

That makes sense. I may want to show love, to act kindly toward another but – if I am not able to act on that desire, then I am barred from spreading love.

Yes, “able” is indeed part of the common expression “willing and able.” Let us explore that notion further. For Garbs and Souls to make meaningful Choices, they must not only have the ability but also the willingness.

Ah … hence, the expression “willing and able.” Ability gives them the means, but it is their willingness—born from desire and intent—that drives action. Without both, the act of spreading love remains incomplete.

And that is the central significance of this Harmony Point. There are countries in TempTerra where governments restrict individuals from acting freely on their desires.
In such places, even if one is willing, the ability to make choices is curtailed, hindering the freedom to act on those choices and ultimately affecting the spread of love.

Like in North Korea, where citizens may desire to sing, dance, socialize, worship, or…?

To be sure, authoritarian governments like North Korea, China, Russia, and Iran are clear examples of restricted freedom. Yet, do not overlook so-called free countries, including America!

America? Wait! Before you say anything, let me think this through for myself. Here in America, there is significant debate over abortion. Those who support the right to choose often campaign under the slogan “Pro-Choice.”

That is no coincidence. To save you a search, in 1965, the Association for the Study of Abortion was founded. In 1972, its executive director, Jimmye Kimmey, wrote a paper advocating what she referred to as “freedom of conscience” or the “right to choose.”

Looking at the Harmony Chart, I notice two different Points that appear to convey the same idea: Freedom and Liberty.

They are not the same, and the distinction is profound. At its most basic, Freedom is bestowed by ALL, whereas Liberty is bestowed by governments.

I don’t understand.

Freedom is a natural state. Consider a puddle of water on a tabletop—free to spread according to the Absolute Laws of gravity and water seeking its own level. However, if you place that water in a bowl, its freedom to spread is restricted.

I can see that. And Liberty?

Freedom is a state granted by ALL, and it is guaranteed by ALL. Both Souls and Garbs are endowed with Free Will to make their own choices. However, that is the arrangement between ALL and its creations. In contrast, humans often control one another, and this dynamic can be a double-edged sword.

It is somewhat ironic that the very same Free Will that allows one person to choose can also enable one human to restrict another from exercising their freedom.

That is the essence of the word, Liberty. Liberty refers to human control over a fellow human’s freedom. In places like North Korea, China, and Russia, there are significant restrictions on the liberty of their citizens.
However, even in America, challenges to Liberty have been a persistent issue throughout its history.

Is there more to say about Freedom? Like, what else can we dive into?

Only this: if a Soul or Garb were denied the freedom to choose for itself—denied Free Will—then the entire Everly/TempTerra system would instantly become meaningless. Souls – and Garbs –  must have the freedom to choose.

That means when people aren’t allowed to make their own choices, their spiritual journey gets thrown off track.
